Excitement builds for Canberra’s 2018 SpringOUT Pride Festival in November.
SpringOUT is Canberra’s only LGBTIQ pride festival – a month-long series of events that celebrate LGTBIQ life in all its diversity in Australia’s most LGBTIQ friendly city.
This year will see the festival go back to its roots. “In 2018, the festival goes back to basics, back to where we started in 1999,” said SpringOUT Chair, Sean Snell. “But there’ll be a few twists too.”
As is tradition, the 2018 festival will be launched with AIDS Action Council Fair Day, which showcases the best of Canberra’s LGBTIQ community, as well as other Festival highlights like Women’s Dance, Canberra’s Gay and Lesbian Qwire, the Big Gay Breakfast and Bushdance.
This year will also see the return of Yes!Fest – a huge street party that will mark the one-year anniversary of the marriage equality vote.
SpringOUT will close the 2018 Festival by turning Glebe Park rainbow! The event will focus on Canberra’s diverse community, with a family picnic, arts and music, drag, DJs community games and a good old handbag toss! Dust off those rainbow boas and join our marvellous hosts, Karen from Finance, Cindy Pastel and the Canberra LGBTIQ community for a day of fun!
“I am really proud of the festival, our Canberra LGBTIQ community and what the SpringOUT Committee have put together for this year’s festival,” said Snell.
“And I can’t wait to see you all at the finale picnic!”
This year’s Canberra SpringOUT Pride Festival will take place from 3 – 25 November 2018.
The SpringOUT Festival Season will be launched by ACT’s Chief Minister, Andrew Barr and the SpringOUT Chair, Sean Snell on Wednesday 17 October.
